Building bridges...

Imagine yourself building a bridge that creates a strong connection between yourself and others, irrespective of both your styles and ways of communicating.

How will that make it easier to navigate those challenging and difficult conversations?

"rapport is the ability to enter someone else's world, to make them feel that you understand them, and that you have a strong common bond"

Adapting your style / way of communicating builds strong connections

Imagine you were able to create an environment that feels safe for others and allows them to trust and be open with you. How would people interact differently with you? One way is to communicate in a way that is familiar to them – tuning into their frequency to more quickly establish a connection.

Let me give you an example. Imagine you are leading a team, and you have some people who are lively and spontaneous and quick to act, while others need time to think things through and understand the whole picture, if you notice this and adapt your style of communication and encouragement to bring out the best in them, imagine how much confidence you will get bringing them all together successfully.

Try this....

1. Pick your one of your closest friends and write a list of interests that you have in common with that person and you will see what connects you as people.

2. Taking it a step further, think about what style of communication you have.

Do you talk fast or slow? What tone do you use when you talk? What type of language do you use?

3. Then consider how this compares to their style, where is it the same and where is it different?

3. What did you learn?

Take the test...

Do you want to understand your current level of skill?
